Five Injured in School Bus Accident on Summerlin Parkway

LAS VEGAS - Five people were injured following an accident involving a school bus on Summerlin Parkway Wednesday morning.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. A Nissan was traveling eastbound along Summerlin Parkway near Anasazi Drive, when the vehicle crossed the median and moved into the westbound lanes. It collided head-on with a school bus in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the Nissan, a woman in her 40's, was transported to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Four occupants of the bus (two adults and two teens) were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

It's unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The accident shut down westbound travel along Summerlin Parkway for more than an hour.
