Thunderstorms cause flooding in Henderson

LAS VEGAS - Thunderstorms with heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning moved through the Henderson area Wednesday morning.

A flood warning was issued early in the day and is now downgraded to a flood watch which is in effect through 8 p.m.

The fire department reported three stalled cars in flooded intersections. The drivers rescued weren't injured.

Flooding impacted the following roads: Boulder Hwy., Warm Springs, Spencer, Foothills, College Way and Stephanie.

Here were the rainfall totals as of 10 a.m.

1.61 Horizon Ridge/Paradise Hills (Black Mountain Detention Basin)
1.50 Mission Hills Detention Basin
1.34 Anthem/Reunion Dr.
1.26 Pittman Park Detention Basin (Arroyo Grande Sports Park


 

The storm resulted in McCarran International Airport putting a ground stop in effect for flights. Some were delayed for more than an hour.
