Flood channels, washes faced clogging issues caused by trash

LAS VEGAS - Flood channels and washes across the valley faced challenges as rain fell across the valley Tuesday.  Four months of garbage gathered in the washes clogging a number of drains.

The water on highland as it crosses under Sahara had gone down a bit, by noon, but it was well over a couple of feet deep at one point.

A Nevada Department of Transportation worker got out the trusty shovel and rake to clear the drains.  The water was flowing hard enough at one point to wash a tire into the middle of the street.

A city of Las Vegas crew was also spotted Tuesday in a vacuum truck checking on neighborhoods.  The guys were clearing a drain that flooded a few-hundred feet stretch of 6th Street just north of Oakey before moving on.

Patrick Walker has more from a flood channel near Desert Inn Road and Eastern Avenue.
