Foreclosure Review Application Deadline Extended

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) --  An aide to Nevada state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto says a July 31 deadline is being extended to Sept. 30 for people whose homes were in foreclosure in 2009 or 2010 to apply for a federal independent foreclosure review.

Masto spokeswoman Jennifer Lopez said Thursday the delay is to allow more people to apply.

The program determines eligibility for compensation because of errors during the foreclosure process.

The program is overseen by the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve.

More than 4.3 million mailers explaining the process went to eligible homeowners nationwide in 2011.

To be eligible, the home loan must apply to a primary residence.

Forms and information are still available at www.independentforeclosurereview.com or 888-952-9105.
