Grammy-Award winning Jazz band, in 'What's Cool at School'

LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas Academy of Arts has a Jazz program that you need to hear, to believe!

LVA's Jazz program has won 12 Grammy Awards - more than any other high school in the country!

The recognition doesn't end with Grammy's. They have also won 13 Downbeat Awards, placed Best in State at every Reno Jazz Festival they've attended, and performed at the renowned Monteray Jazz Festival, among other honors.

Class features plenty of interplay and improvisation, within the flow of the performance, within the structure of practice.....chord changes to play over, playing notes inside chords, always communicating.....

Student Max Cruz, who plays upright bass, says "It's a conversation, but with people who are not speaking physically, but speaking through their instruments."

Our only indigenous art form is practiced and performed daily at LVA with rapid rhythms, unique instrumentals, and musical spontaneity.

This class engenders opportunities to step onto many stages....from jazz festivals....to the Grammy's....to a recent CCSD event where they demonstrated talent, skill, and professionalism.

These young pros will be playing with an Alumni Big Band on November 30th for their 25th Anniversary Concert.

Playing with experienced progessionals provides these students perspective to see what they can do career-wise, as a lifelong lover of jazz.
