Grieving Mother Remembers Son Killed at Bally's

LAS VEGAS -- The family of a man gunned down at a nightclub on the Las Vegas Strip forgive the man who allegedly shot their son.

The Metropolitan Police Department is calling Kenneth Brown a hero. He died Monday trying to stop a shooter in Drai's After Hours nightclub in Bally's Hotel and Casino.

Norma Sattiewhite is preparing to bury her son. Brown, a club promoter, died trying to stop a Benjamin Frazier, police said. Two security workers had already been shot when Brown tackled Frazier to the ground. It was a move that cost Brown his life.

"A heroic patron who lost his life prevented what could have been even more death and injury to people in the area," Sheriff Doug Gillespie said.

Sattiewhite is surrounded by memories of a son.

"He's my hero. You know, he's my hero," she said.

A promoter and stand-up comedian, Brown loved the stage.

"His favorite comedian was Richard Pryor. He said he met Richard Pryor and they talked for hours," Sattiewhite said.

Brown's mother is taking up a search her son couldn't finish.

"One of the things that I really want to do is help find my two grandsons."

Brown's two sons were adopted by other families at the ages of 1 and 2 years old. Sattiewhite has a few pictures of the boys.

"He said, 'momma, I'm working on it.' That's what he told me."

While Brown never lived to see his sons again, who are now 18 and 19 years old, his mother said she will find them.

"I want them to know that he was a hero and that he loved them and he was looking for them."

She's hopes to carry on her son's legacy through his children. The family is still making funeral arrangements.

If you would like to help Brown's family with the funeral costs, you can donate at any Bank of America to the Memorial Fund for Kenneth Dion Brown.
