Health Officials Looking for Man Who May Have Rabies

LAS VEGAS -- Public Health officials in San Bernardino County are asking for help to find a man who might have been exposed to rabies.

The County of San Bernardino Department of Public Health has asked for help from the Southern Nevada Health District because it is believed that the man may have been traveling to Clark County when the incident happened.

According to health officials, a bat landed on the man's neck outside a book store at Kelso Depot near Mojave National Preserve Tuesday.

The bat later tested positive for rabies. Rabies is a potentially deadly disease in animals and humans; however, if caught in time, it can be treated.

Officials would like the man to contact the communicable disease section at 1 (800) 722-4794, Monday through Friday, or (909) 356-3805 after business hours and on weekends.
