Henderson PD captain accused of throwing fit in bank

HENDERSON, Nev. -- The Henderson Police Department's internal affairs bureau is investigating a complaint from a bank branch that a Henderson police captain threw a fit after having to wait.

According to employees at the U.S. Bank branch inside the Vons grocery store near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Horizon Drive, Capt. Bobby Long became upset after waiting to get help from bank employees last week.

During the confrontation, the employees said Long, who was off duty at the time, used abusive language and threatened bankers. He also refused to leave the bank.

Employees called 911 and Long eventually left. No criminal complaint was filed, but the branch manager asked to speak to a police commander about the incident.

The city of Henderson released a statement Thursday about the incident that said:

"We take allegations like this very seriously. Behavior like what is alleged is unacceptable to us in any circumstance, on or off duty. Our internal affairs bureau is investigating the complaint and we will take the appropriate action based on the results of that investigation."
