Henderson Teen Charged in Family Killing Appears in Court

HENDERSON, Nev. -- The teen accusing of killing his mother and younger brother waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Adrian Navarro-Canales, 16, appeared in Henderson Justice Court Wednesday morning. His public defender, Joseph Abood, said the teen plans to enter a not guilty plea at his upcoming arraignment.

Navarro-Canales was arrested Sept. 25 on the Las Vegas Strip after police received a tip. His mother, Elvira Canales-Gomez, 40, and his 9-year-old brother, Cesar Navarro, were stabbed to death in their apartment on Sept. 20.

Navarro-Canales is being charged as an adult. He is due back in court on Nov. 18. for his arraignment on the murder charges.
