High Winds Headed to Southern Nevada

LAS VEGAS -- Wind gusts of up to about 50 mph are expected in the Las Vegas valley Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds between 25 to 35 mph are expected between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The winds are expected to increase Thursday morning with the strongest winds expected in the afternoon. The wind is expected to turn northwest in the afternoon following a cold front.

Besides Las Vegas, the high winds are expected in Bishop, Death Valley National Park, Pahrump, Mesquite, Caliente, Searchlight, Needles and Lake Havasu City.

The winds could make driving difficult and drivers are urged to be cautious.
