Historic Kiel Ranch getting major upgrades

North Las Vegas, NV. - The North Las Vegas City council unanimously approved restorations and upgrades for Kiel Ranch Wednesday night.

City officials approved a contract to CG&B Enterprises completing phases two and three of construction to the park. The contract is valued at $818,866 with funds coming from the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act Fund.

The funding also provides improvements of earthwork grading, construction of a boardwalk overlook, retaining walls, decomposed granite trails, utilities, irrigation, landscaping, lighting and signage.

An additional grant from the State Historic Preservation Office for $170,000 also provides funding for restorations on the historic adobe at the Ranch. The restorations include upgrades to doors, windows, and wall plaster including more signage and lighting.

The Ranch is a seven-acre historic site that is one of the early settlement sites in the Las Vegas Valley.

It is the last remnant of the original 240-acre homestead settled by Conrad Kiel in the mid-1800s.
