Homeowner, Suspect Shot During Home Invasion, More Suspects Sought

Three men broke into a home in a gated community in the southwest part of the valley early Tuesday morning. The woman in the home was wounded and one of the intruders was killed when a shootout happened between the men -- and the woman's boyfriend.

Now Police are looking for the suspects and residents of the neighborhood are trying to deal with what happened. One of the neighbors claims he heard 10 gunshots -- and then saw two suspects run out of the house, leaving one of the suspects behind and one of their victims in the hospital.

"I heard a boom, boom, boom, three shots -- and then I heard a car spin off," said Sherell, a neighbor.

It was a wake up no one in this quite neighborhood ever expected. Police swarmed Correl Ribbon Ave., in southwest Las Vegas, after rounds of bullets were fired off in the early morning hours. Neighbors are still in shock.

"Unbelievable, unbelievable, unbelievable," said Sherell.

Police say at 4:45 a.m., a 28-year-old woman came home and was taken hostage by three armed suspects -- but her boyfriend, who was inside, fought back with his own gun. Shots were exchanged, the woman was hit and a suspect was also shot. He died on scene while the other suspects got away.

"Makes me want to move," said Danny Silva, who works in the neighborhood. "Where are you going to move to? The madness is everywhere. It's like a fad. It's a trend. It's starting to sweep across the nation."

Police are now trying to figure out if the suspects knew the victim.

"Go figure; I thought this is a nice neighborhood," said Sherell.

Or if this was another random home invasion. Eyewitness News talked with the victim earlier Tuesday -- she didn't want to go on camera. She says she was shot in the shoulder and neck but is doing okay.

The other two suspects were seen taking off in a 2001 red Neon with tinted windows. They are considered armed and dangerous.
