Hutchison released the following statement:
"Thank you to my family, my supporters, and the thousands of Nevadans who voted for me this evening. It was a hard fought primary, but tonight Republicans from across Nevada responded to our vision of economic prosperity, increased opportunities, and the continuation of Nevada's Comeback."
The state senator had the support of Gov. Brian Sandoval, but the state GOP officially endorsed Lowden.
Gov. Sandoval sent this statement about Hutchison's victory.
"Congratulations to Mark Hutchison for earning the support of Republicans across Nevada. The race for lieutenant governor was spirited and as we move towards the general election I look forward to campaigning with Mark. Nevada needs a lieutenant governor who will help grow and diversify our economy and build upon the improvements in our education system – that candidate is Mark Hutchison."
He will face two-term assemblywoman Lucy Flores, who easily won the democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.
