I-Team: Former Metro officer, Richard Scavone, signs plea deal

LAS VEGAS - The 8 News NOW I-Team has learned that Richard Scavone, a former Metro police officer accused of using excessive force on a suspected prostitute, has signed a plea agreement.

Court records show there was a change of plea hearing set for Scavone for Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. Scavone's trial was initially set for next week.

In 2015, prosecutors say Scavone used excessive force on Amanda Ortiz near I-15 and Tropicana Avenue. Metro already approved a $200,000 settlement for Ortiz.

In 2016, Scavone was officially charged by the Feds. There is body camera evidence that has not yet been released to the public.
