LAS VEGAS - Another local school has decided to close it's doors after numerous students have fallen ill to the Norovirus.
Imagine Schools at Mountain View sent a letter home to parents that states "the school will be closed on Monday, May 8 thru Tuesday, May 9 due to a large increase in absences among students due to symptoms consistent with gastrointestinal illness."
The letter also read that students and staff may have been exposed to the illness between April 21 and May 5. The cases are not limited to one particular grade and have been reported in grades K-6, the letter said.
According to the Southern Nevada Health District, the school contacted the Health District to report increased cases of gastrointestinal illnesses on May 4.
A statement 8 News NOW obtained from the Health District states, "we are working with the school to try to determine the cause at this time. The school made the decision to close so it can undergo appropriate cleaning."
Imagine Schools at Mountain View is the second school to close it's door because of the virus this week.
On Tuesday, Somerset Academy North Las Vegas sent a note home to parents informing them that schools would be canceled on Thursday and Friday.
According to the Southern Nevada Health District, there isn't a link between Imagine School at Mountain View and Somerset Academy North Las Vegas.
