I-Team: District Court Judge Faces Public Reprimand

LAS VEGAS -- A Clark County District Court judge admits she violated the code of judicial conduct when she put her personal schedule before her public duties.

The admission comes as part of deal to settle formal disciplinary charges against District Court Judge Valorie Vega. If approved, Vega would face a public reprimand for her actions.

An I-Team investigation of Judge Vega in 2010 revealed that she forced a jury to deliberate overnight to accommodate her vacation schedule. During that same trial, a murder case, Vega acknowledges she cut testimony short six times to attend her daughter's soccer games.

Until now, Vega has defended her conduct. On Monday, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline is scheduled to decide whether to accept the agreement. It is not however bound by its terms.
