I-Team: Federal Grand Jury Investigates Family Court Marshals

LAS VEGAS -- The federal grand jury investigation into family court marshals revealed by the I-Team grew to a new level. FBI agents served three Clark County court administration employees with grand jury summons.

Courthouse administration sources tell the I-Team that FBI agents came in Friday morning and handed three federal grand jury summons. They went to the staff attorney, the human resources director and an internal affairs investigator.

This is part of the federal grand jury case focusing on alleged abuse by Clark County family court marshals. The I-Team first revealed, in July, how court marshals testified they witnessed their supervisor, former lieutenant Steve Rushfield, choke a woman in court. Rushfield stepped down after the investigation and declined to be interviewed.

The grand jury is also focusing on the case of a woman arrested after telling a hearing master she was inappropriately touched by a family court marshal during a search. Sources close to the investigation tell the I-team the grand jury is looking into when court administration knew about the abuse claims.

Clark County court administration, lead by Steve Grierson, responded through a spokesperson who said they are fully cooperating with the federal investigation.
