I-Team: Search warrant gives clues into strip club raid

LAS VEGAS -- Allegations of strippers drugging customers then racking up bogus charges on their credit cards appears to be the focus of a Metro Police investigation at a local topless club.

However, the club's owners and management say if anything, it is the work of a few rogue contractors.

Nobody has been arrested so far, but court records show what police expected to find. Metro detectives raided Club Paradise in June and the cabaret has been closed since then.

The affidavit supporting the search remains sealed but the search warrant itself suggests the type of crimes police suspect happened there.

Among other things, the warrant says police were looking for credit cards and devices that can store credit card information and controlled substances used for what is commonly called ‘dosing,' including GHB, ecstasy and rohypnol.

These are generally known as date rape drugs and the implication is that some strippers at the club may have been drugging customers' drinks, in order to pile up credit card charges.

Lawyers for the club say no drugs were found during the search and that the club's ownership is not suspected of any involvement in any crime.

They also note dancers are often hired as independent contractors and aren't even employees of the cabaret.

On Wednesday, Club Paradise will ask a district court judge to compel Metro to return $100,000 in cash taken during the raid, and they want the club's computers and other hardware returned so they can re-open for business.
