I-Team: Supervisor Steps Down After Family Court Allegations

LAS VEGAS -- 8 News NOW has learned the supervisor of the Family Court marshals has stepped down following an investigation into allegations of misconduct.

Lt. Steve Rushfield announced he has stepped down as supervisor. He is demoting himself to the position of court marshal working for a judge.

There are multiple complaints against Family Court that marshals have abused women on different occasions.

One incident, highlighted by the I-Team, showed a woman, Monica Contreras, telling a hearing master that a marshal had assaulted her in a nearby room because he believed she was carrying drugs. She said the marshal touched her breasts and asked her to lift her shirt. When she refused, she was taken into custody.

Rushfield was investigated for not reporting the incidents to his supervisors in court administration. Sources say Rushfield will leave his job on April 8.
