Jessica Williams to Get New Trial

(Feb. 25) --  Jessica Williams, the woman convicted of killing six valley teens with her car, will be getting a new trial.

Tuesday morning, a judge agreed with Williams' attorney and decided that she deserves a new trial based on new evidence. Williams was convicted in connection with a deadly accdient on I-15 that happend three years ago.  She was sentenced to serve more than 40 years.

Six teenagers died in the accident when the van Williams was driving crashed into them. The teens were working in the highway median as part of a county work crew.

Williams attorney argued that Nevada law doesn't specifically outlaw "carbocyclic acid" -- a metabolite created when a person smokes marijuana. That substance was in Williams' system at the time of the accident. The judge agreed and she will now get a new trial.
