Judge: Coach Kenny Sanchez 'not guilty' of domestic battery

LAS VEGAS - A judge has found Bishop Gorman football Coach Kenny Sanchez not guilty of domestic battery during a bench trial in Las Vegas Justice Court Tuesday.

Sanchez's former girlfriend Brooke Stewart called 9-1-1 on Christmas day 2016 alleging that Sanchez had pulled her hair and punched her.

Later, she recanted the story, saying she was taking medication and depressed and made up the story because she was mad at Sanchez.

Even so, the case still went to trial.

Stewart was granted immunity at the hearing so that she wouldn't be charged with perjury.

Judge Amy Chelini said there was no evidence of a punch to the face and she found Sanchez not guilty.

Bishop Gorman released a statement saying now that the legal process has reached a resolution, they will review the findings as part of their internal investigation.

Sanchez was suspended after the incident was reported.
