Judge Vega Announces She Won't Seek Re-Election

LAS VEGAS -- District Court Judge Valorie Vega announced Monday that she will not seek re-election next year.

Vega, who serves in Department 2, had been under scrutiny for alleged judicial misconduct. In February, she admitted to misconduct and was reprimanded by the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline.

I-Team: District Court Judge Facing Misconduct Counts

She was first appointed to the court by then Gov. Kenny Guinn in 1999. She was re-elected in 2000, 2002 and 2008.
