Kirstin Lobato will spend another year behind bars

LAS VEGAS - A woman whose murder case was dismissed after she served 16 years in prison will have to serve another year for a different case.

Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez dismissed the case against Kirstin Lobato on Dec. 29. Lobato had been convicted and was serving time for killing a homeless man in 2001. The judge ordered Lobato to be released from the Department of Corrections.

However, according to Public Information Officer Brooke Keast with the Department of Corrections, Lobato will not be released, she will be transferred to the Clark County Detention Center to serve a one year sentence.

The sentence is for conspiracy to commit sexual contact with an inmate.
