Las Vegas Businesses React to Obama's Re-Election

LAS VEGAS - With the re-election of President Obama, small businesses are wondering what the next four years will mean for them.

While business groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce criticized President Obama's policies as bad for small businesses, some Las Vegas business owners say they aren't worried.

Business is doing well for the owners of Bakery Magic and English Garden Florist near Flamingo Road and Maryland Parkway. Owners of both businesses say they're looking forward to the next four years, but their optimism is pointed at Las Vegas and the people here.

They say they believe the valley is rebounding from the recession.

"I feel that Las Vegas is starting to feel better," said English Garden Florist owner Dave Filter. "I can see it in my business. People are buying flowers when they didn't buy flowers before, going on dates, just occasions."

"I'm hoping Vegas and the people of Vegas are capable of pulling forward a lot better than we have since this store has opened," added Bakery Magic owner Michael Zapken.

In his first term, President Obama proposed tax cuts that will benefit small companies. He's also backing a plan that would include tax deductions for small businesses that invest in new equipment.

However, many small businesses are also worried about the Affordable Care Act. When the law goes into effect in 2014, any business with 50 or more employees must provide insurance to their workers.
