Las Vegas Chimp Owner Facing Charges in Florida

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man who kept chimpanzees in his yard in the southwest part of southern Nevada was arrested last month and the animals seized.

According to police in Florida, James "Mike" Casey was arrested by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at a roadside zoo for trying to illegally sell three chimps.

In 2012, Casey had to move the animals from his home in the southwest after the Clark County Commission denied him a permit to keep the three chimps and one capuchin monkey. He was also denied a permit to keep the animals in Pahrump by Nye County authorities.

Casey used the animals for commercial appearances.
