LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas comedians and entertainers held a fundraiser on Sunday to benefit dog rescue groups.
The "Funny Bones" fundraiser at the Palms featured 12 top acts, including illusionist Lance Burton and comedian George Wallace. The money raised will go to three local dog rescue groups and help pay for veterinary care, boarding, training and administrative costs.
Organizers say interest in the event was so great, they had to add 200 seats. An estimated 450 people attended. Comedian and organizer Sammy Shore expressed gratitude that so many people turned out to help the abandoned animals. "You never had anything like that happen for them and raise money for them. We are all so excited about it, because the people have turned out. It's not for cancer. It's for the puppies, and for dogs and that's what it's all about really," he said.
Organizers say they hope to raise as much as $15,000.
