Las Vegas Stadium development agreement closer to a vote

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Stadium Authority board is getting closer to completing a stadium development agreement.

Wednesday's meeting lasted just over an hour and that included public comment.

The authority board was given updates on the land dedication agreement, the UNLV joint-use agreement, the Raiders non-relocation agreement and the community benefits plan which will insure the greatest possible participation by all segments in the community.

No votes were taken, but the board seems to be getting closer.

"We're at a point where we've managed to get the community benefits plan to a point where we can insure there is diversity and inclusion in terms of employment as well as procurement opportunities in all three phases, pre-development, construction and on-going operations," said Ken Evans, board member. "I'm optimistic and yes I think we'll be in a position to approve everything by Feb. several of the things we covered today were major milestones so I'm very positive at this point."

There are only four more meetings before all the open documents need to be complete. As for the UNLV joint use agreement, only minor issues remain to be resolved.

"It's important for us and this stadium and this project as a whole to elevate UNLV to that next level, we wanted to get it done. It'a long negotiation. It's still ongoing, but we've made a lot of progress and there's a very good relationship between the parties," said Marc Badain, Raiders president.

He says, Las Vegas should know by May if it will be hosting a super bowl in the near future.
