There were hundreds of lightning strikes during the night as tremendous winds and heavy rain moved through the valley.

Thunderstorms rolled into the valley last night around 9 p.m.  Winds gusting to near 60-miles-per-hour shook up many neighborhoods around town.

Lightning lit up the night sky and blew out power in isolated areas.  Some street flooding was reported in east valley neighborhoods but had subsided after midnight.

Rain totals were as high as .82" on E. Charleston near Sunrise Mountain.  But not everyone got rain in their neighborhood.  Some areas of Summerlin and the central valley were raked with high winds and plenty of lightning, but not a drop of rain.

Today the threat is thunderstorms continue.  The thunderstorms could last into the evening and possibly overnight.  Please remember, turn around, don't drown if you reach a flooded intersection!
