LAS VEGAS - Greyhound Pet Adoption of Las Vegas has found homes for about 100 former racing greyhound in the past couple of years. They are the lucky ones.

Because The Humane Society estimates in an average year 19,000 greyhounds are killed. That number includes more than 7,000 puppies who were farm culls, another 11,000 "retirees" who were not rescued. Plus, the many more who are either sold to research labs, turned into breeding stock, or sent to foreign racetracks.

Like many other rescues, the group runs strictly on donations. They are having a rummage sale this Friday and Saturday, March 25th and 26th. The home is located near Durango and Charleston at 8648 Cremona.

Maybe you'll find a treasure and at the same time help a dog retire from the track.
