Lost Skier Found Dead ID'd as Las Vegas Man

MOUNT HOOD, Ore. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a skier found dead in a creek on Mount Hood as a Las Vegas, Nev., man.

The Clackamas County sheriff's office said Monday he was 23-year-old Russell Tiffany.

Deputies said Tiffany was with a group of skiers drinking at a hut Saturday night, but he decided to head down the mountain alone.

He got disoriented and called a friend. They made plans to meet up, but he didn't show.

The sheriff's office said he was last seen by a group of campers who attempted to direct him to their location, but he didn't arrive.

Searchers were notified Sunday morning, and his body was found that night west of the Ski Bowl resort.
