Man armed with machete taken into custody near Flamingo and Rainbow

LAS VEGAS - Police took a man with a machete into custody after a brief struggle Wednesday afternoon. The man had been barricaded in a home with a juvenile.

According to officers, the incident started as a domestic violence call in the 7000 block of Clearwater Avenue near W. Flamingo Road and S. Rainbow Boulevard.

Both directions of Flamingo were shut down between Rainbow & Tenaya during the incident, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called to investigate a situation in which a man was armed with a large knife.

Diskin Elementary School was also placed on a lockdown due to police activity in the area.
