Man arrested following a fatal crash in Henderson Saturday night

Police have arrested a man in connection to a fatal crash in Henderson Saturday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. near Warm Springs Road and Eastgate Road. Police tell 8 News Now, 38-year-old Michael Stanley was driving a blue 2005 Cadillac CTS when he hit the rear of the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was forced into the guard rail and became separated from the motorcycle. The rider sustained massive injuries and died at the scene. 

Henderson police say Stanley then continued on westbound West Warm Springs Road approximately 800 feet past the collision. He then fled on foot and was later caught and arrested without incident.

Stanley now faces a charge for DUI death and leaving the scene of an injury collision.

The name of the will be will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.

 

 

 

 

 

A 52-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle while riding a motorcycle died last night.

 

The deceased Henderson man was driving a black 2002 Honda FSC 600cc motorcycle westbound on West Warm Springs Road approaching Eastgate Road at about 9 p.m. when he was struck. Michael Stanley, 38, was driving a blue 2005 Cadillac CTS westbound on West Warm Springs Road at high rate of speed when he hit the rear of the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was forced into the guard rail and became separated from the motorcycle. The rider sustained massive injuries and died at the scene. Stanley continued on westbound West Warm Springs Road approximately 800 feet past the collision. He then fled on foot and was apprehended by Henderson Police officers without incident.

 

Stanley was arrested for DUI death and leaving the scene of an injury collision. Speed and alcohol are considered to be the contributing factors in this collision.

 

The name of the man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.

 

West Warm Springs Road was closed in both directions for approximately five hours.

 

In 2015, 326 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes on Nevada roadways. So far this year, 194 people have died in traffic-related fatalities statewide with 134 of those deaths occurring in Clark County. This is the tenth traffic-related fatality in Henderson this year.
