Man asks for forgiveness in deadly shooting

LAS VEGAS - After apologizing to the mother of a man he killed, Eric Bell, 21, was given a sentence of 16 to 45 years in prison for the death of 18-year-old Roland Pleasant.

The deadly shooting happened in Nov. 2014 when Bell was also 18-years-old. Bell accepted a plea deal which reduced the murder charge to second degree. He was sentenced on other charges including robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, battery, assault and burglary.

On the night of the shooting, Pleasant, who had two younger teens in a car with him, stopped to pick up Bell, who was an acquaintance.

Bell robbed the one of the teens and attempted to rob the second one. Both were able to get out of the car and run to a store where they called for help.

Bell shot and killed Pleasant.

Bell later turned himself in to authorities.

A large number of family and friends of Roland Pleasant did show up for the sentencing. Bell did ask the family for forgiveness.
