Metro police are investigating the department's 111th deadly traffic crash of the year.  It happened Saturday night around 10:18 p.m.

According to investigators, the driver of a 2015 Mercedes-Benz was traveling at a high rate of speed along Mountains Edge Parkway while approaching the T-intersection at Fort Apache Road.

The 40-year-old male driver continued past a stop sign, through the intersection and between a set of fixed road closure barriers, said police.

The front of the vehicle struck a steep slope and flipped through the desert landscape coming to a stop several hundred feet away from the intersection, said police.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by a Clark County Coroner's investigator.

The crash remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Section.
