Man Dies 18 Months After Severe Beating

LAS VEGAS -- A man who was severely beaten in October 2011 has died of his injuries, Metro Police said Thursday.

The man, identified as Nathaniel Young, 57, of Las Vegas, died April 23. The Clark County Coroner's Office ruled his death a homicide because of the blunt force trauma to his head from the attack.

The police said that patrol officers responded to the 200 block of W. Utah Avenue to investigated a report of an unconscious man on the ground. The officers found Young, who appeared to have a severe head injury. He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

No suspects have been identified.
