Man hit, killed on I-15

LAS VEGAS - A man was hit and killed early Friday morning as he walked along I-15 near Tropicana Boulevard. The ensuing investigation backed up traffic for miles.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says the man was walking in the left travel lane of southbound I-15 at 5:25 a.m. when he was struck by a black Nissan Armada.  The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.  There was no indication she was impaired.

NHP did not identify the 28-year-old man, but said there was no obvious reason for him to be on the freeway.  He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The Clark County Coroner will release his identity once family members are notified.

During the investigation, troopers closed the left-three travel lanes. Traffic on southbound I-15 quickly backed up for miles, past the Spaghetti Bowl.  The lanes were closed for hours during the investigation.
