LAS VEGAS -- A 56-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair has died after being hit by a car on Flamingo Road at Duneville Street, east of Jones Boulevard Monday.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m. as the man was crossing Flamingo. He had entered the westbound travel lanes into the car's path.
Metro Police said the man was transported to University Medical Center and pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m.
Although there is not a crosswalk in the intersection, police said, it is an implied crosswalk and the driver could face charges because he passed another vehicle that had stopped for the man in the wheelchair.
The collision is the 41st traffic-related death in Metro's jurisdiction this year and is under investigation by Metro's Accident Investigation Section.
The man's name will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
