Metro Police said an early morning shooting in a Summerlin neighborhood was not a random act of violence. The victims were "known or related" to the suspects, police said.

The early morning shooting left a man and teen girl critically injured.

It happened around 4:40 a.m. at a home on Garden Glen Lane near Hualapai Way and Desert Inn Road.

Police Officer Michael Rodriguez said the officers had to perform emergency aid on the victims when they arrived at the scene due to the seriousness of their injuries. The two victims were transported to the hospital where they remain in critical condition.

Residents of the neighborhood are shocked by the crime.

"To have this happen here, it is kind of scary. It is such a nice neighborhood," one resident said.

"Things like this don't happen here in Summerlin," according to another resident.

A gun found in a neighboring park is believed to be connected to the shooting.

"That's the first time in the five years, I've seen crime tape in this park, and that's what concerns me," another resident said.

No one has been arrested. Police say there is more than one suspect.
