Man whose wife, daughter were raped, killed testifies at suspect's trial

LAS VEGAS - Arturo Martinez was found bludgeoned and bloody by his son after his wife and daughter were raped and murdered inside their home back in 2012.  Now, Martinez hopes his testimony will help his family get justice.

Martinez took to the stand Thursday in the death penalty trial of Bryan Clay.  Martinez told jurors he didn't remember the attack.

According to Martinez, he remembers falling asleep on the couch, before waking up and stumbling around the house.

Martinez was on the stand for about an hour and a half, and he spoke slowly as he tried to remember as many details as possible.

Martinez testified seeing blood on the couch before looking over and seeing his wife on the floor, in a pool of her own blood.  He said he found his daughter in the same condition.

Martinez says he also remembers checking on his two sons who were unharmed.  According to Martinez, at one point, he tried to talk to them, but he couldn't articulate the words.

Martinez said that's when he realized he was injured.
He says he remembers passing out several times.  Martinez says he realized the tragedy inside his home, but he couldn't do much in his condition.

"I kind of pinched myself," Martinez said. "Is this is real or am I dreaming."

While Martinez was on the stand, Clay's defense attorneys questioned him about his relationship with his neighbors.
Apparently, the two families had a dispute over parking on the driveway.

Clay's attorney's asked if he remembers slashing his neighbor's tires on the night of the attack.

Martinez said, "no."  He also said he never got worked up about the situation.

Martinez's son, who first reported the murders to his school teacher, is expected to testify in the trial as well.

Friday prosecutors will call a DNA expert to the stand.
