Marine dies in boating crash at Lake Havasu

Lake Havasu, Ariz. -- A marine stationed in Twentynine Palms Marine Base in California died while boating at Lake Havasu, Arizona.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the lake at around 3 p.m. Friday to investigate a vessel accident.

Deputies say the marine was riding a personal watercraft when he crossed in front of a 31-foot boat. The boat hit the victim, throwing him from the Jet Ski. He was wearing a life jacket but did not survive the crash.

The United States Marine Corps will be notifying the next of kin. The victim's name is withheld until his family contacts the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
