Marshal Wounded in Shootout Identified

LAS VEGAS -- The deputy U.S. marshal that was shot in the arm during Monday's gun battle at the Lloyd George U.S. Courthouse has been identified as 48-year-old Richard "Joe" Gardner.

Gardner has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. He has been employed with the U.S. Marshal's Service for 24 years.

Gardner was shot in the arm by Johnny Lee Wicks who opened fire in the federal courthouse. The shooting left 72-year-old security officer Stanley Cooper dead. Wicks was killed by federal agents.
