It happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. Friday near I-15 and Flamingo Road. Metro says a patrol vehicle was going northbound on I-15 and Flamingo Road with is overhead lights and siren activated. They say the officer was responding to a felony call in progress.
A 2014 Ford Fiesta was going northbound on I-15 at Flamingo. A black vehicle began to yield to the patrol vehicle and abruptly re-entered the travel path of the officer. The officer swerve to try and avoid the vehicle when it lost control.
The patrol vehicle began sliding sideways and collided into the left side of the Ford Fiesta. Both vehicles sustained moderate to major damage and the two people inside the Fiesta were taken to UMC with moderate injuries.
The officer sustained a minor injury and was treated and released at the scene.
