Metro investigates homicide in southeast valley

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police investigated a homicide in the southeast valley Monday night.

It happened in the 4600 block of Vegas Valley Drive near Vegas Valley and S. Lamb Boulevard.

According to officers, the victim, Kevin Alexander, Jr., was in his home when a person came in and shot him. The victim jumped from the second-story balcony to escape, but was shot again.

Metro Police said the suspect fled the area before officers arrived at the scene.  The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Metro said the shooting that occurred around 7 p.m. wasn't a random shooting.

Officers say at least seven shots were fired. Witnesses thought they were fireworks.

According to Metro, a woman and a child were in the home at the time of the shooting, but they weren't hurt.

The suspect, who's still on the loose, is described as a shorter man with a thin-build who was possibly wearing a bullet proof vest.

There wasn't any other information released.
