Metro investigates murder-suicide; police say man killed woman, child and dog

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police investigated a murder-suicide in the southwest valley Monday night.  According to officers, around 7:38 p.m., a man, woman, child, and the family pet were found dead in a home in the 10000 block of Numaga Road. It's near the intersection of S. Rainbow Boulevard and W. Mountains Edge Parkway.

Metro Police said the man, who was in his 40's, was the suspected shooter.  The woman was in her 30's, and the child, who Metro said was the couple's child, was around 1 years old. His birthday was coming up in a few days. 

There was a second child who lived in the home, but that child was not home when the homicide occurred.

According to Metro Police, the family had been dead in the home for a little more than a day.  However, when family friends stopped by the home, they found the bodies, police said.

There weren't any other details released.
