Teenager critically injured in hit-and-run crash

Metro police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a teenage driver critically injured.

The crash happened on Charleston Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. near Rampart/Fort Apache Boulevard.

According to police, the driver of a black Mercedes was speeding on Charleston and crashed into the back of a Kia.

That driver ran from the scene but was later apprehended by a security guard from a nearby business, police said.

The driver of the Mercedes was believed to be impaired. He was arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

The driver of the Kia was taken to University Medical Center .

Eastbound Charleston is closed to traffic at Rampart for around eight hours while police investigated the crash.
