According to Metro Police, two women were arrested Thursday for allegedly causing a child's death after they gave the child prescription meds.
Police said the incident occurred on Aug. 10, around 12:30 a.m.
Metro said officers responded to the 2500 block of Duck Arrow Circle to investigate the death of a child.
During the early stages of the investigation, detectives thought the child had possibly overdosed on prescription pain medication. However, the investigation initiated by the LVMPD Abuse and Neglect Section determined that Kendra Hatch, the victim’s mother, along with Mylynda Hatch, the child’s aunt, gave the child prescription pain meds that weren't prescribed to the child to treat an injury the child had suffered.
Police said the child had lethal levels of multiple prescription pain meds found in their system. On Oct. 26, an arrest warrant was issued for both the women.
They both were arrested and charged with open murder.
