Metro needs public's help searching for serial bank robber

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police have asked for the public's help in locating a serial bank robber.  The alleged thief is suspected of three crimes in seven days, police said.

The latest incident happened Tuesday at the American First Credit Union in the 6000 block of S. Durango Drive near Patrick Lane.

However, this time, the alleged serial robber may have left with a gunshot wound instead of cash.

The others robberies happened last week near the intersection of E. Desert Inn Road and W. Sahara Avenue.

The man's image captured on surveillance video shows him wearing glasses, a hat, and scarf acting as a mask, over part of his face.

"I saw police and a lot of commotion," Tony Delgado said.  "When you see a lot of yellow tape like this, they don't want you in there. That means it's pretty serious."

Police said this time around during the alleged thief's robbery spree a security guard fired off some shots.

"We'll be able to tell a little later on exactly all the details as they unfolded to determine if the security action, security guard's actions were, of course, correct," said Michael Rodriguez, Metro Police.

Though police are unsure if the suspect was injured, they still believe the same person is responsible for at least two other robberies.  The first robbery happened at a US Bank on E. Desert Inn Road, Metro said.

Officers said the suspect had a gun and escaped with cash.

The second incident occurred just one day later, at a Bank of Nevada on W. Sahara.   Police said after robbing the bank, the suspect drove away, but he ended up crashing his car into a wall, so he jumped out of the car and decided to run.

The alleged robber's car, a Toyota Camry, was then stolen.

On Tuesday, Metro said the suspect jumped into a different vehicle escaping capture -- a Jaguar.

"That's crazy because this is like a pretty nice neighborhood so you wouldn't think that something is going on and I always tell people, you never know when and where; just keep your eye out always," Delgado said.
