Metro Officer Arrested on Felony Charges

LAS VEGAS -- A Metro Police officer has been relieved of duty after he was arrested on felony charges.

Detectives arrested 46-year-old John A. Wilson for fraudulent workers' compensation activities. He has been charged with fraud in connection with industrial insurance benefits, along with theft and attempted theft.

According to police, he turned himself in Monday. He was released on bail following the booking process.

Wilson has worked at Metro since August 1996. He was assigned to the Traffic Bureau. He is now on unpaid administrative leave.

The state's Attorney General's Office will now take over the investigation and prosecution of the case.
