Metro Officer Shot During Crime in Progress

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are investigating an officer involved shooting at Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard with one officer being shot and transported to University Medical Center.

Investigators said officers responded to a grand larceny in progress with two suspects. When officers arrived they encountered one suspect that started resisting. The officer struggled with the suspect and was eventually shot in the upper thigh.

It's unclear how the gun fired, whether it was accidentally discharged or if the suspect got a hold of it and pulled the trigger.

Both suspects were taken into custody.

The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.
