Mom Sentenced for Beating, Tying Daughter to Bed

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The mother who beat and tied her 4-year-old daughter to a bed was sentenced Monday morning to 13 years to life in prison.

Laketha Moore, 37, was convicted of beating her daughter and tying her to a bed without food and water while she went to work and church. Police said the child was would left alone for up to 12 hours a day. Moore pleaded guilty to child abuse and kidnapping charges.

The child was discovered in March 2013 by a maintenance worker doing a routine check in the mother's apartment at the Loma Vista Apartments.
